RMS Aquitania was a British ocean liner operated by the Cunard Line from 1914 to 1950. The third of Cunard’s famous express liners, alongside Lusitania and Mauretania, she was renowned for her elegant interiors and earned the nickname “The Ship Beautiful.” Shortly after entering service, World War I began, and Aquitania served as an auxiliary cruiser, troop transport, and hospital ship. Returning to passenger service in 1920, she became one of the most popular liners on the Atlantic route. After the Cunard–White Star merger in 1934, she remained in service and again served as a troopship during World War II, transporting thousands of Allied soldiers. Following the war, she carried migrants to Canada before being retired in 1949 and scrapped in 1950. Aquitania was the last surviving four-funnel ocean liner and one of the most celebrated ships of her era.
