The MV Britannic was a British ocean liner built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast for the White Star Line. Launched in 1929, she entered service in 1930 and operated on the transatlantic route between Britain and North America. Unlike many earlier liners, she was powered by diesel engines, making her more economical to operate. The Britannic offered comfortable accommodation and modern facilities for passengers in different classes. Following the merger of White Star Line and Cunard in 1934, she continued sailing under the combined company. During World War II, she served as a troopship, transporting military personnel. After the war, she returned to civilian passenger service in 1947. The Britannic completed her final voyage in 1960 and was sold for scrap in 1961, marking the end of a long career at sea.
